Well I'm Bored and don't want to do a "real" review so lets do a collection of covers. No thoughts & Feelings or what not just individual song reviews. Enjoy. Band name in front of song name, then original artist in parenthesis.
Smash Or Pass?
Get Scared- My Own Worst Enemy (Lit)- SSMMAASSHHH. I fucking LOVE Get Scared, and I love this song, so of course I would like this. I love this interpretation of the song, its just a little strange to here "good" production on a GS song, which kinda takes away from the raw emotion that I love about them. However this song fucking SLAPS so I'll take it.
Memphis May Fire- Interstate Love Song (Stone Temple Pilots)- SSSSMMMASSSSHHH. Another band I love covering a song I love. Little known fact about me is I'm just as much of a grunge freak as a metalcore freak, and STP is one of my all timer bands. I love how this cover doesn't try at ALL to sound like STP, its just MMF doing what they do best with STP lyrics over it. This song fucking ROCKS and is 100% on my playlist.
Asking Alexandria- Closer (Nine Inch Nails)- SSSSSSSMMMMMMMMMAAAAASSSSSSSSHHHHHHH. The definitive version of this song. I love NIN but this is just a whole different level. Danny's voice was MADE for this song. The way he has that teen angst singing before breaking into demonic screams from hell PERFECTLY conveys the emotions of the song even better than the original. This song is fucking amazing, and earns a LISTEN TO THIS FUCKING SONG AWARD along with a gold medal.
The Color Morale- Everlong (Foo Fighters)- SSMMASSHH. A band I have never heard of covering a song that I hear every day. Honestly this is pretty good, I'm definitely gonna look into these guys for future reviews. They havent released anything since 2017 which makes sense as to why I have never heard of them.
Chunk! No, Captain Chunk!- All Star (Smash Mouth)- SSSSMMMMMAAAASSSSHHH. Ah Captain Chunk!, I kinda forgot about these guys which is a real shame. These guys are DEFINITELY going on the wheel, I have no idea why I forgot them in the first place. I forgot how good of a singer these guys have. We will be seeing more of them on the site.
Mayday Parade- Comedown (Bush)- SSMASSHH. Another Grunge cover, this time from a band I have seen play the original live. This is a great cover of a great song, which is expected from Mayday Parade. This is by FAR the slowest song so far so even though this isn't an "album", I will add some points for pacing here as this is a GREAT intersection song.
Motionless In White- Du Hast (Rammstein)- SSMAASSHH. MIW is a band I love as has been seen on this site before, and for some ungodly reason Chris sounds even BETTER in German than English. This is a strange cover because its not better than the original but it's also a great interpretation that does a great job of adding a MIW twist on the song, most notably adding "blegh"s in true Chris fashion.
Yellowcard- Today (The Smashing Pumpkins)- SSMASSHH. Another cover of a song I love by a band I love. This cover is fucking AWESOME. I Love the Pumpkins so this was of course a welcome cover to see. Great song and another good pacing song if this was an actual album.
Hands Like Houses- Torn (Natalie Imbruglia)- SSMMASSHH. A cover of a cover?? I love this band so seeing this cover is awesome, and they do this song so well. This is a perfect Emo Punk ballad song, and I honestly like this version more than the.. original? original cover?? I don't know the famous version.
The Ghost Inside- Southtown (P.O.D.)- SSMMMASSSHHH. A METALCORE COVER OF A NU METAL SONG LETS GOOOOO. This cover is fucking great, and picks up the pace again PERFECTLY after the last one. However the next one makes this whole album an F for even being on here (JK but thank GOD its unavailable)
Falling In Reverse- Gangsta's Paradise (Coolio)- Pass. Skip. Not only is this an FIR song its also unavailable on Spotify. Doing God's work to keep this out of my ears here.
Ice Nine Kills- Good Riddance (Green Day)- SSSSSMMMMMASSSSHHHHHH. ICE NINE KILLS COVERING GREEN DAY WHAT THE FUCKKKKK. Not only that this cover is fucking AWESOME. Many of you already know my opinions on the original, and in all honesty this song fixes that issue. This is SUCH a good way to end this album. Thanks INK for once again saving us from being ruined by FIR.
Conclusion
No rank or anything for this as it is not a real album. This is a VERY good compilation and the only real issue is the addition of a FIR song on here, other than that its near perfect. To normal people though this is a PERFECT compilation and honestly a great intro to Emo/Metal/Metalcore as its songs most people already know just heavier.
