Intro

Its finally time. I'm pissed off, heartbroken, sleep deprived, and just generally feeling hatred towards the world so what better cure than to lose my shit over some hardcore. Knocked Loose has been around seemingly forever to those of us who follow the scene but they FINALLY, and deservingly so, broke into the mainstream with this project. No other things to say that aren't part of the review so lets get into it. First time I'm ever doing this but:

WARNING: Do not listen if you have an anxiety condition, this album is fucking BRUTAL. This album has the first song to legitimately unnerve ME, and I've listened to some crazy shit in the past.

Thoughts & Feelings

This album pisses me off in the best way possible. It makes me want to kill everyone and everything that has ever inconvenienced me, then run face first through a brick wall for good measure.  This is what you probably imagine the absolutely shredded biker in the gym is listening to while bench pressing 3 grown men worth of plates without breaking a sweat.

Smash Or Pass?

Thirst- SMMMASSSSHHHH. Dark dreary noise opening, then FUCKING HELL THE FIRST BREAKDOWN IS INSANE. Bryans voice is demonic in ALL of the best ways on this album, and mixing it with all of the other screams by other members leads to a fucking noise bomb on vocals. This is probably the heaviest album I've reviewed thus far. Short ass song.

Piece By Piece- SMMMMMMASSSSSHHHHH. RIGHT WHERE WE LEFT OFF. This album wastes NO time, its only 27 minutes long but its gonna be the most intense 27 minutes of your fucking life. The vocals on this album are downright TERRIFYING at times, like how the FUCK can humans make these noises. First bit of ""calm"" in the album at the en-

Suffocate- SSSSSSSSSSSSMMMMMMMMAAAAAAASSSSSSHHHHHH. PERFECT TRANSITION BABBBBYYYYYY. The song so massive it put a hardcore band on late night talk television. Poppy's vocals here are fucking ridiculous, and compliment Bryan so well. The screams on this song are just brutal, and the instrumental is a different LEVEL of heavy. It has an almost tribal feel to it with the literal screams of the damned over it. The ending of this song is a pure hate anthem, and the calm ending with the birds is so dark feelin-

Don't Reach For Me- SSSSSSSSSSSSMMMMMMMMAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHH. ANOTHER PERFECT TRANSITION. THIS IS PROBABLY THE MOST INSANE SONG YET. Face crunching heavy, demonic screams, guitars doing nothing but filling this song with dread, its fucking brutal. Even the "resting" bridge is insane. PIG SQUEAL BREAKDOWN LETS FUCKING GOOOO. This song is just fucking insane.

Moss Covers All- SSSSSMMMMMMAAAAAASSSSSSSHHHHHHHH. HOLY FUCKING HEAVY. NOT EVEN A MINUTE LONG BUT IS FUCKING INSAN- Then a nice calm break- SCREAMING BREAKDOW-

Take Me Home- SSSSMMMMAAASSSSHHH- Eerily calm opening. It just keeps getting more dreadful and unnerving, some screaming, the way this song doesn't fully breakdown in the beginning makes this the first truly scary song on here. WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS BREAKDOWN. I'm legitimately uncomfortable listening to this at 1 AM alone. WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT ENDING.

Slaughterhouse 2- SSSSSSMMMMMMMMMAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSHHHHHHH. MOTIONLESS IN WHITE BABBBYYYYY. This is the sequel to their first collab, and it sounds like that. This song is probably better than the first one, just because of how intense this song is allowed to be, being on a KL album on not a MIW album. Heavy as FUCK breakdown near the end.

The Calm That Keeps You Awake- SSSSSMMMMMMMAAAAAASSSSSSSSHHHHHH. HOLY HEAVY BREAKDOWN. The initial riff isn't that crazy then BANG GET FUCKED. This song once again has a tribal feel to it, and I really love how that works with the brutalist vocals and guitars on this track. Amazing instrumental breakdown at the end with more bird noises to close it out.

Blinding Faith- SSSSSMMMMMMAAAAAAASSSSSSSHHHHHHHH. The first single released and honestly the first song since Counting Worms that people outside of the already existing KL fanbase got to see. This song is fucking amazing, and a great "welcome to hardcore" track. Its heavy and brutal but not NEARLY as bad as some of the other things on this album. PIG SQUEAL BREAKDOWN ONCE AGAIN. More birds at the end.

Sit & Mourn- SSSSSMMMMASSSSHHHH. Slow dark melodic opening, perfect transition with the bird noises from the last one, very cal- FUCKING HELL THAT BREAKDOWN CAUGHT ME OFF GUARD. This song is heavy but... calming. It feels like a complete collapse of every emotion possible all at once. This song is another anxiety spiker, and is actually messing with my emotions again. The brutal screaming and blast beats over calming, piano and guitars are just filling me with dread. The clean guitar break into another heavy instrumental over it does not help with that feeling. The scared whispers of "why did you leave? I feel like I've failed" make this song even more dreadful and terrifying, probably the worst thing to listen to after a breakup (my mistake)

Conclusion

What the Fuck.

RANK: S+

That's it. This album actually gave me a mental breakdown to review. Thats why it got delayed almost 7 months. Thanks for reading and fuck this I'm done for a while.

  1. Damn bruh the first time I'm actually afraid of listening to an album. I will give it a shot once I build up enough courage lol. Great review.
