Intro

We are so fucking back. New domain. New era. New review. And what better way to kick off the new era than with the first ever album request I've received in person. Hi Jordan, yes I do actually listen to you when we leave. With that lets get right into this one, I honestly can't remember if i hated this one or not.

Thoughts & Feelings

This album makes me feel like I just got in the car with a 27 year old. Its such fucking generic pop bullshit its honestly impressive. For an album called Save Rock And Roll, There is a serious lack of Rock and Roll.

Smash Or Pass?

The Phoenix- SSMMAASSHH. Of course I know this song. Its super mainstream and honestly I cant be mad about that, this is a bop. This is definitely way too pop for an album called "Save Rock And Roll" but who gives a shit. Patrick sounds amazing here (especially compared to what comes next with AB/AP), and the pop instrumental still leaves just enough rock to be a "Rock" song. Because of that I wouldn't consider this to be a sellout album, just a poppier version of  Folie a Deux. Great start.

My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark (Light Em Up)- SMASH. Another one everyone knows. With this one, we have my first complaint. This song is so fucking quiet for some reason, I had to turn up the volume on this one. Now that could be spotify but I've noticed it before even on physical releases. Now I know mixing an album is extremely difficult but this is as simple as turning up the master volume. Other than that its not bad.

Alone Together- Smash. This is so fucking pop I thought this was PATD for a VERY long time, in fact I was wondering why this hadn't come up during those reviews. With that being said this song isn't bad its just far from great. It's just boring pop, nothing more or less

Where Did The Party Go- Smash. This is just boring pop rock. The bassline isn't bad but its just so repetitive its annoying. The chorus is so fucking annoying its sad, but everything else is just good enough to carry this to BARELY being a smash.

Just One Yesterday- Pass. This one started strong then just fell apart. Its just so fucking boring I zoned out. This also lost ALL rock aspects, what a joke of a song to be on an album that supposedly Saves Rock And Roll.

The Mighty Fall- Smash. A GUITAR RIFF???!?!?!?! WHAT. This sounds like a rock song so far. And there it goes. The chorus is just a random pop song with a guitar riff. It lost everything it had going for it. Why the  FUCK does this song have a rap verse??? Like This is supposedly a "Rock" album. Its not even good. This quickly fell apart.

Miss Missing You- Pass. This is just glorified Maroon 5. This is FAR from good, but not the worst thing ever. Its just generic and boring, common theme for this album so far.

Death Valley- Smash. Its once again generic and boring but it sounds good. This and the last one sound EXACTLY the same. The vocals just aren't as mindless rambling on this one.

Young Volcanoes- Smash. This is just a Twenty One Pilots song. Nothing else, no special FOB feeling to this, its just a TOP ripoff. Its not terrible but again, generic pop that could have been by literally ANY early 2010s pop rock group. Luckily for this song, its a ripoff of a band I like so its getting a smash. That ending goes on for way too long.

Rat A Tat- Pass. No comments here. Courtney Love Killed Kurt Cobain. The song is mid as fuck and honestly sounds like shit compared to even other things on this album.

Save Rock And Roll- Pass. Save Rock And Roll my ass. This is generic pop bullshit to the highest degree. Pointless feature from a star (Elton John), boring piano instrumental, everything about this SCREAMS pop garbage. For fucks sake its even got stupid ass acapella sections that contribute nothing and overly processed high pitched backing vocals. This is BAD.

Conclusion

This album sucks. Its not even its fault either. The songs are trash yes, but the production is a different level of shit. For context, every other song I had to adjust the volume and could still barely hear the vocals over the overprocessed garbage that was the instrumentals. With that though, 2 of these songs are iconic and I completely understand their popularity.

RANK: D+

This was such a massive punch in the face to listen to after Heaven :X: Hell, that album was so fucking good and this killed our streak of bangers. Yes, I said it, Pray for the Wicked is a banger. In fact, Every P!ATD album other than Fever and TRTL,TRTD is better than this on ALL grounds. With that though I'm done. Any feedback is welcomed and appreciated. Album requests are also heavily encouraged, Thanks Jordan for giving me one, sorry this one is so negative. With that, thanks for reading and welcome to the new era of Punk Rock Picks.
