Pre Intro

Hello, Jake here. As was stated yesterday Shark is taking a break so il be filling in for a bit.

Intro

Bad Religion. As an AFI Fan who read Sharks first AFI review, he compared AFI to this band A LOT. Now its not like I have never listened to bad religion before but I definitely need to explore them more. And with that, let's get into the review.

Thoughts & Feelings?

This album feels like if AFI had the singer from the Offspring and never went goth, i dont want to explain more than that.

Smash Or Pass?

Change Of Ideas - SMASH. FAST AS FUCKKKKKKKKK. This song is 100% pure Punk Rock, Especially only being 55 seconds long.

Big Bang - Smash. This is one of the "hits" of the album. Good song don't get me wrong but not the greatest.  feels a bit too long if I'm being honest, bit boring and drags.

No Control - Smash. Same sound as Big Bang, I prefer this one though. Good guitars and the vocals are more interesting. The chorus is iconic and punk as fuck. Clear inspiration for future bands, especially AFI.

Sometimes I Feel Like - SMASH. OPENING RIFF BABBYYYY. Great vocals again. OOOH WHATS THAT BREAKDOWN THERE. This song ROCKS. MUCHHHH better than the last 2.

Automatic Man - Smash. Bit strange sounding but not bad at all, great 5 second guitar solo. Just like with the first AFI review, this is punk, not much to say.

I Want To Conquer The World - SMASH. Another of the "Big Ones" of the album. This song is GREAT. its a bit longer than the previous songs but feels faster than all but the first song. AMAZING SOLO.

Sanity - Pass. This song is quite a bit slower than the rest and is the longest on the album at 2:45. Not a bad thing but this song feels more "Classic Rock" than the punk feeling that I'd expect from Bad Religion. This song is just too slow for me.

Henchman - SMASH. This song is MILES faster than  the last one and brings back the punk feeling. Great song and much needed to keep my attention.

It Must Look Pretty Appealing - Smash. Pretty solid song, bit slow but not NEARLY as bad as Sanity. The main riff is pretty bland but the vocals keep attention well.

You - SMASH. THIS is the "BIG ONE" of the album. Deservingly so, this song FUCKING ROCKS. This is what I expected most of the songs to be like and outside of that one song this is pretty much what I got. Great song.

Progress - Smash. Starts slow, getting scared. OK THERE WE GO. This is more like the Bad Religion I expect. still a bit slower than the most but perfect to start the closing minutes of this album.

I Want Something More - SMASH. BRINGING THE SPEED BACK. This song is 47 seconds of pure Punk greatness.

Anxiety - Smash. Punk rock. That's about it. Good solo too.

Billy - Smash. Same vibes as the last one, this one does it a bit better though. So again, Punk Rock.

The World Won't Stop - Smash. This is starting to get old but this song is again just a good punk song. Good closing track on this album.

Conclusion

This album is pretty good. Not what I was expecting at all points but most of the songs hit and only really one didn't fit in that well here. This album obviously has some BIG hits with I Want To Conquer The World and You, but there is much more here than just those songs.

RANK: B+

Hate what I said and want me gone? Love me and want me to be permanent owner of this site? any and all feedback is of course welcome and appreciated. Thanks for reading and have a good Summer.
