Intro

This is a HUGE sleeper pick for me. Does anyone know this band? I heard She's Kerosene one time, fell in fucking love with it, and then I was at the bar last Friday with a couple of buddies and there was a band on the small stage and they did a cover of THAT song. I went fucking crazy and my friends were like wtf is this? And I'm like THE INTERRUPTERS BABY. Holy hell so I figured I'd check out this album. Let's get into it.

Thoughts & Feelings?

For context, this is a new exploration for me. I ONLY know She's Kerosene and that's why I'm checking this album out. Holy fuck am I happy I'm listening to this shit right now though this is so fucking good. I can't believe this album came out in 2018, it honestly sounds something from the 90s. Crazyness. NOW everything is making so much sense, they were really involved with Tim Armstrong.

I also just found out that the 3 people that AREN'T the lead singer are legit siblings. I thought they were just stage names, but nope it's 3 brothers.

This album makes me feel like I'm in a montage of a beach party during spring break. I'm wearing that shirt that Holt wears in Brooklyn 99 that's the pineapple with the panties that says "slut", and bright pink sunglasses. It's a chill vibe good fun dance party where literally there are no problems and everyone's having a great time, it's like paradise. Anyway yeah don't ask me to elaborate further. This is such a great fucking vibe album.

Smash or Pass?

Title Holder - SMAAASSSH. This sounds EXACTLY what I was hoping it would sound like. Some good old enjoyable ska punk action. This song is so good and enjoyable. It's a really good opening track with enough tension to drag you in, wanting to listen more. So fucking good.

So Wrong - SMASH. Tough for me to say I enjoy this song more than the last. It's close. This is a great song and the chorus is really catchy it feels like an old school sing a long song. It's pretty fucking enjoyable. This is a really easy going song so that's probably why I'm chilling so much at the moment.

She's Kerosene - SMMMMMMMAAAAAAASSSHHHHHHH. I mean this was gonna be obvious. This is the whole reason why I'm listening to this album right now. I fucking fell in love with this song it's so good. It's SUPER fucking catchy I can't help but sing the chorus every fucking time it comes on. It's literally just pure ska punk and it sounds fucking awesome. REALLY enjoyable guitar solo thrown in there, great fucking bridge section as well.

Leap of Faith - Smash. Not gonna lie I really don't enjoy this one. It's still getting a smash because it has some elements that I really enjoy. The instruments are really cool but for some reason the entire vibe is just... eerie and off and doesn't sound enjoyable to me, especially coming off of She's Kerosene. It's okay it's going to get the go ahead this time but next time I may not be so forgiving.

Got Each Other - SMAAASSSHHH. There we go, now we're back into it. YES. There we go. Back into some good old fun punk rock vibes that I want to hear. WOAH NO WAY IS THAT TIM ARMSTRONG SINGING?? IT IS. HE PRODUCED THIS ALBUM. HAHAHAHA. There ya go. That would explain why I like a lot of these songs so much. Produced by Rancid, baby let's fucking go. This is a GREAT song cause it's just so catchy.

Broken World - SMASH. This is a pretty good song it's got a GREAT vibe to it. It sounds really fun and I enjoy the time I'm having here with this one. All of these songs are just FUN. That's exactly what I was hoping for. This is the kind of shit that anyone can enjoy because of the vibe it brings. Throw this album on anywhere and people will smile.

Gave You Everything - SMMMMAAASSHHHH. Holy FUCK this is easily the 2nd best song of the album just because of how much of a punk rock vibe it's got and it's IMMEDIATELY catchy. Hahaha I guessed correctly. This is the 2nd most popular song on the album. This is easy #2 though because of how fucking fun and punk rock it is. This is a great fucking song. It sounds like some new school Green Day if they were any good. Really neat solo here as well, that's nice. What a FUCKING VIBE.

Not Personal - SMASH. This one is alright but I'm not really into it. It's got kind of a weird vibe to it. I am enjoying it a little more now that the chorus has come through but it's just kind of okay. Never mind I'm really enjoying this one now that I understand the vibe to it.

Outrage - SMASH. This one is pretty good but it's a little generic and I don't really care much for it. Yeah it's a good song and everything but would I listen to this one over Gave You Everything or She's Kerosene? Nope. Cool solo thrown in there though and a lot of vocal scream stuff involved here. That's cool to see.

Rumors and Gossip - SMASH. I'm going to try not saying the exact same things going forward because you know how I feel about this album so far. This song is pretty good but it's also just alright. The chorus is good, the guitar underneath really makes me think of Green Day back in their triple album stage except this actually sounds good and involved in the song. You guys know that this is typically the section of the album that I lose things to say because everything's been said.

Be Gone - SMASH. Bass getting some fun action involved here. This one definitely has it's own distinction against all the other songs and I think that's definitely for the best because typically this is the area where you throw your generic songs into. Not this time though, this song has some unique parts involved which is nice to hear. It's a good song.

Room With a View - SMMAASSHH. Oh man I really enjoy this song. It's super unique, the guitar gets a lot of action involved, it sounds pretty impactful and very full. This is an amazing song to end off the album on. I really enjoyed listening to this shit it was really fucking good.

Conclusion

This album is EXTREMELY enjoyable. I'm really glad I got to listen to this today because I forgot about all my problems for a good 25 minutes or so. This is pure fun ska punk rock songs that mostly work. There are a few songs that I'm not into and a couple times where I'm like yeah that's a little generic so I might have to dock a point for that, but other than that these are mostly hits.

RANK: B+

What do you guys think? Enjoy that good old classic ska punk vibe? I fucking love it. Happy Tuesday everyone, fight hard.
