Hey everybody. I'm not really in the best headspace at the moment, so I figured you all would let me have a day to myself and let me review just a single song. I figured that would be a good compromise. Thanks for being so understanding.
I have shown a LOT of people this fucking song, and NOBODY seems to understand how fucking incredible it is. Like am I the only person on the planet that thinks this song slaps harder than I slap my nuts in the morning? What the fuck is wrong with you people?? This song is KILLER and I was absolutely obsessed with it when I first heard it. Can't believe it's taken me this long to talk about this song. Possibly in the future I'll do an actual review of the entire album, though I've never listened to it. Anyway let's get into this song and music video, and why I love it so much. Thoughts & Feeilngs?
This song makes me feel so fucking isolated, because I have shown so many people this song and their reaction is "It's alright". WHAT? FUCK YOU. This song is so FUCKING GOOD. It has SO MANY GOD DAMN ELEMENTS TO APPRECIATE HERE. WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE??? This song is so fucking good and I'll tell you EXACTLY why in the Smash or Pass section, and this'll be a fun change- I'll smash or pass each SECTION of the song. Spoiler alert they're all smash because I fucking love this song. Anyway yeah don't ask me to elaborate further.
It's crazy how many elements of this song are so kickass. Great music, great vocalist, great instruments, great breakdown / bridge section, this fucking song has rap, guitar solos, horn solos, sax solos, whatever the fuck- wHAT DO YOU WANT MORE??? THIS SONG IS GREAT. I fucking love it and it makes me real sad that nobody else appreciates it.
Smash or Pass?
Now for the fun part. The unconventional conventionists. I am going to do a listen through of this song with the music video and I'm going to smash or pass each section of the song. Let's get to the fun part.
Intro - SMASH. Getting straight into it with some kickass guitar and your sexy opening riff that hooks you right in.
Verse 1 - SMASH. I fucking LOVE this girl singing. She's got such a smooth enjoyable voice and she is absolutely beautiful as well, shoutout to you Brenna. Anyway such a simple opening verse that stays perfectly in line with the intro.
Pre-Chorus 1 - SMASH. Absolutely love how the vocals take a break to let the horns and shit get their kick in. Absolutely amazing.
Verse 2? (Rap section) - FUCKING SMASH BABY HOLY SHIT. I don't even like rap, but holy shit this is fucking fire. I absolutely FUCKING LOVE THIS SHIT IT'S SO GOOD. THEN HOLY FUCK HER SINGING AFTER THE RAP SECTION GETS ME GOING SO GOD FUCKING DAMN MUCH IT'S ABSOLUTELY INSANE.
Guitar solo - SMASH. Holy fuck. It sounds SO FUCKING SIMPLE but it just works so fucking well. Absolutely amazing and doesn't overstay it's welcome.
Pre-chorus 2 - SMASH. Back to the great verses, it goes back to being the regular song again.
Chorus 1 - SMMAAASSSHHH. WELL YOU CAN MEET ME. AT THE DOWNNNNNNBEAT. LIKE WHAT THE FUCK WHAT A GREAT CHORUS.
Breakdown / bridge - Here we FUCKING GO BABY SMAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH THIS IS MY FAVOURITE SECTION OF THE SONG. EVERY FUCKING SONG GETS A SOLO. YOU GET A SOLO. YOU GET A SOLO. YOU GET A SOLO. EVERYONE GETS A SOLO. ABSOLUTELY LOVE ALL THE INSTRUMENTS TRADING THEIR PLACES AND GOING BACK AND FORTH. JUST ABSOLUTELY AMAZING STUFF. THEN THE DRUMS BABY HOLY FUCK. I LOVE HOW THEY BUILD IT UP AND THEN KILL IT TO GIVE THE TRUMPET SOME WORK. EASY CLAP SECTION SO FUCKING GOOD.THEN WE'RE BACK INTO THE STANDARD GROOVE WORK WITH THE GUITAR.
Verse 3???? - SMASH HOLY FUUCCKKKKKK BACK INTO VOCALS AGAIN AND IT'S SO GOOD. Then all of a sudden it's fucking slow and soft and easy and it's so fucking GOOOOOODDDDD. THIS SONG JUST DOES SO MANY THINGS AND IT'S SO INTERESTING.
Chorus 2 - SMMMAAAAASHH WELL YOU CAN MEET ME. AT THE DOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWNNNNNNNNNNNBEEEEATTTT. HOLY FUUCCCKKKKKK. LET'S FUCKING GO CRAZY.
Outro - SMASH. Holy FUCK yes what a great way to end the song, just going so fucking jammy wammy on the instruments.
Conclusion
This fucking song rocks. I haven't explored much more of this hilarious Spongebob reference band, but based on this song holy fuck- there's no way it can go up from here. Maybe I'm just crazy and am so used to hearing the same old thing that when something new shows up I'm crazy for it- I have absolutely no idea. All I know is that this song rocks my socks and it's fucking great. GIVE IT A LISTEN, I've put the music video at the top so you can listen and read along or do whatever you want, I don't care.
Once again guys, sorry this isn't a full album review, like I said I'm just not in a great space mentally today and I needed to take a bit of a break, so instead of just not posting a review today I figured I would just do the one song I'm super fucking passionate about.
