The Killers, eh? They have some AMAZING songs, but do they have amazing albums? Spoiler alert: No. This album is mid. There are 3 MAYBE 4 songs on this album I like. It's quite sad actually. I fucking love the Killers, I just want them to complete something. They always pull up just a BIT before the fucking mark. Oh well. What do I think? Let's see.
Thoughts & Feelings?
The Killers have a very fucking difficult time completing albums. They always manage to make good songs and make S tier bops, however their albums are always lacking. They cannot seem to make an album that goes straight up Paula Abdul front to back. Their albums are always just lacking unpassable factor. I always feel like some songs are just... not incredible.
This album makes me feel like I'm in an art museum. I'm looking at all the paintings around me and I'm like... okay... art. I see a couple paintings that I really enjoy and I'm like awesome that's super nice! But then I look around at all the other paintings and I'm like... yeah that's... yeah that's art. Idk man don't ask me to elaborate further.
Smash or Pass?
Sam's Town - SMASH. This song is really good. I think the vocals are a little off to me. I fucking love the chorus, it's just great. Other than that I wouldn't listen to this song outside of this album. This is a great opening song but it's definitely not a fan favourite. Shoutout to the Killers for writing a good album but I'm not much about this song. The ENDING IS GREAT.
Enterlude - Smash. A good legit opening to the album. Piano is great.
When You Were Young - SMAAASSSHHH. Shoutout to guitar hero. Shoutout to 11 year old Sharky seeing The Killers live in concert. Absolutely amazing song, shoutout to Elise because she hates mainstream Killers songs. This is a great one though because it has elements you'd think are dogshit but actually work REALLY REALLY well here. Great song, super mainstream.
Bling (Confessions Of A King) - Pass. Like I don't really know. I'm not crazy about this song- I'd argue it's even bad. However I'd even argue it's decent. Where do you put that? It's mid. It's below-mid. Fuck it sorry- this is a pass. It's not a bad song it just kinda sucks.
For Reasons Unknown - Smash. This song isn't amazing. It's definitely better than Bling. That's it. It's not a great song honestly but it's kinda catchy, the chorus is a little stuck in my head sometimes but other than that it sucks. Let's move on. It's okay.
Read My Mind - SMMMMMMMAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHH. Easily the 2nd best on this album. Absolutely amazing. Super sweet and soft all the way through. Amazing use of other instruments involved. Such a GREAT fucking chorus. This song is so fucking groovy and absolutely catchy, MWAH MWAH MWAH. This is a great song. So slow and cheezy and super slow but MWAH. 2nd place for sure. What a great fucking piano?? lick.
Uncle Jonny - SMASH. This is definitely more punk rock than Killers are used to. GREAT opening line. Super cheeky and funny. This is a great song but it doesn't go anywhere, it kinda just acts like me during college- stays in the same fucking spot the entire fucking time. Unfortunately but now I'm therapy so it's okay. Shoutout to you Killers, go seek that out. Anyway yeah this is probably my 4th favourite song on the album. It's good but not amazing.
Bones - SMMMMMMMMMMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. THIS IS EASILY THE BEST SONG OF THE ALBUM. SO GOOD BABY. This is so good. Super enjoyable super relaxing, super NOT punk rock, that's okay. It's amazing. SUPER CATCHY. SUPER CATCHY CHORUS. ABSOLUTELY MINT. This is the BEST of the Killers, and unfortunately it's the best of this album.
My List - Smash. This song is okay, it's not that bad but it's just kinda lame. Like I have nothing crazy to give credit to, it's just like a mid tier Killers song and I don't really care for it. Yeah it's a smash, but only cause it doesn't sound like my asshole.
This River Is Wild - Smash. Same thing. It's a standard Killers song but I just don't care I'm sorry. This song is mid and I just don't care. Meh.
Why Do I Keep Counting? - Pass. I'm bored. This song sucks.
Exitlude - Pass. I'm bored. This song is mid.
Conclusion
The Killers are a GREAT band however they always fall short. They haven't seemed to make an incredible album since Hot Fuss. This album is the exact same. It's a good album but nothing is outstanding or incredible. It's just a regular album with some great hits.
